American singer Tonya Boyd-Cannon will perform in Havana February 19-24 to celebrate African American Month, the Cuban Institute of Music (ICM) announced today.
Boyd-Cannon will give a concert on February 20 at 7:00 pm at the Marti Theatre, and on the 21st of this month he will perform at the concert hall of the National Museum of Fine Arts, both in Havana.
The singer-songwriter’s program includes visits to art schools, cultural institutions and community projects to share her experiences with musicians and the public of the Caribbean nation.
The artistic visit is part of an exchange between the United States Embassy in Havana, the Department of Culture, the ICM, and the Office of the City Historian.
Boyd-Kennon is a classically trained vocalist who interprets soul, reggae, funk, rock and gospel styles.
