The Guillermo Barreto Un Memoriam Drum Festival will return from February 28 to March 5 to fill the various spaces of the Cuban capital with traditional rhythms and dances that together will envelop the public in a great celebration of our culture, according to the organizers of the meeting in a press conference.

The 20th edition of the musical celebration will be dedicated to Lazaro Ross and the legacy that he left to subsequent generations of rumberos and lovers of the genre that is the heritage of the Cuban nation. The highlight of the Fiesta will be the competitive section, which this year will include conga and timbale, rumba, casino and drumming competitions, as well as masterclasses led by prestigious figures from each event.

Workshops and competitions will be reserved for the El Sauce Cultural Center and the Salón Rosado de la Tropical, which will also host themed evenings with presentations by famous Cuban bands such as Eduardo Ramos and Más con Menos, Alain Pérez and his orchestra, Timbalaye, Ronald and Explosión Rumbera, Rumbatá, Manolito Simonet y su Trabuco, Giraldo Piloto and Klímax, among others, who will share the stage with foreign artists such as Spain’s Pilar Boyero and The Drumming Wonder of Burundi.

Artex is the great hostess of this edition, which adds to the celebration other centers such as the Bulevar 66 cultural center. There will be no shortage of presentations in communities such as the municipality of Regla, the parades on Obispo street, as well as the planned grand closing in La Piragua.
