The 23rd International Biennial of Graphic Humor ended yesterday in the municipality of Artemis in San Antonio de los Baños after four days of sessions in that territory and in the Cuban capital, the Cuban news agency reported.

Adriana Mosquera (Nani), a Colombian-Spanish cartoonist, stated that under the motto “Let’s have a serious laugh at machismo”, there were days of exchange, reflection and study of patriarchal discrimination, machismo, gender violence, social inequality and inclusive language.

In her closing statement, she stressed that the event is a platform to showcase women’s empowerment and its reflection in graphic journalism.

WITHHe emphasized that the 23rd edition has returned to its face-to-face nature after two years of COVID-19 and has become a genuine popular demonstration of respect for traditions and the protection of identity.

He said that graphic comedians, both male and female, were reflecting on what is now a new topic in publications: gender equality and respect for the rights of the women’s sector.

He acknowledged the support of organizations such as the Federation of Cuban Women, the Editorial de la Mujer, the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, the Ministry of Culture, the authorities of the Municipality of San Antonio de los Baños in Artemis, and the Union of Cuban Journalists.
