Under the motto “Museums, Sustainability and Development”, the Havana Historian’s Office of Heritage Heritage is developing a series of activities from 15 to 20 May to highlight the role of museums as institutions in the service of society and its development. .
The celebration of May 18, International Museum Day, is dedicated to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, mainly related to health and well-being, action on climate change, life in terrestrial ecosystems, quality education, and cities and sustainable communities.
The program includes workshops with recycled materials, exhibitions, conferences, experiments and other events dedicated to the centenary of the birth of Cuban sculptor and ceramic artist Marta Arjona.
Among the proposals stands out the Fiesta de los patio in the historic center, with the aim of emphasizing the importance of patios in museums and their integration with nature and ecological elements.
This date also represents the moment when the entire management of the museum community must shift to direct interaction with its public, based on the planning of events and cultural events, which are based on the heritage they preserve.
