Music and Art on Uneac Spring Concert Day

The spring concert day will be held in Havana on May 23, 25 and 27 with the support of the Association of Musicians of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC).

As announced by the institution on its website, the Hart Theater of the José Martí National Library will host this musical event at 4:00 pm local time with a varied program.

These will be works by the great masters of the 19th century and will receive the first worldwide audition during various presentations by prestigious soloists such as Barbara Llanes and flutist Nyurka Gonzalez.

The stage will also feature guitarist Luis Manuel Molina and pianists Ernesto Oliva, Lianne Vega, Franck Paredes and Claudia Lastra.

Also joining this program are chamber ensembles, the duets Ondina, Contrastes and Emanuel, the trio Dulcián, Art Trío and Cañas Móviles, the quartets Zsaxos Alianza Real, Schola Cantorum Coralina and Camerata Cortés, among other groups.

The event is chaired by the teacher and National Music Award winner Guido López Gavilán and is an opportunity to evaluate the development achieved by students, both in composition and in playing various musical instruments.

These young people will present their art to the audience, and admission to the concerts will be free, Uneac said.

The Spring Concerts event is sponsored by the Uneac Association of Musicians, the Cuban Institute of Music and the National Center for Concert Music.
