The presentation of the 2022 National Literary Prize to the Cuban poet Delfin Prats will be one of the most important events of the 31st International Book Fair in Havana this Friday.

The ceremony, which will take place at 16:00 local time in the fortress of San Carlos de la Cabaña, will also celebrate the literary work of a storyteller and translator from the eastern city of Holguín.

Born December 14, 1945 in La Cuaba, a town in the eastern Cuban province of Holguin. He studied philology and Russian at Lomonosov University in Moscow, in the former Soviet Union.

Prats works for literary promoter Pedro Ortiz and is often seen at book launches and poetry readings in his hometown.

Literary criticism in Cuba and beyond considers that his work occupies one of the first places in the literature of the Caribbean island.

His style is distinguished by sophistication and sensuality, he uses metaphors in an unusual way, treats facts, mythological characters and universal legends in a new way.

The texts of his authorship have been published by publishing houses, magazines and anthologies in several countries and translated into Italian, French, English and German.
