The Cuban team for the V World Baseball Classic accepted the eight remaining players this Friday, and today they will have their first practice here in full force.

One of the rookies, pitcher Miguel Romero, told the digital newspaper Jit that he has been working these days to get himself in shape in the Dominican Republic.

“It’s all right, I’ve kept in touch with the guys and I’m very happy to be here,” said the pitcher, who belongs to the Oakland Athletics team in the US Major League.

Romero added that he followed his teammates’ matches, hoped to reach the second round and praised the concept with which the payroll was created.

A little later, other pitchers Roennis Elias (Chicago Cubs) and Ronald Bolanos (Kansas City Royals) joined them, as well as outfielders Louis Robert (Chicago White Sox) and Yoenis Cespedes (free agent).

Also welcomed fielders Andy Ibanez (Detroit Tigers) and Yoan Moncada (Chicago White Sox) and catcher Lorenzo Quintana (free agent).

According to the source, the Antilles team will visit the local university grounds on Saturday afternoon as a preamble to their bout against Monos de Rakuten, scheduled for next date as the penultimate of their preparation commitments.
