Cuba completes World Baseball Classic preparations with victory over Hermanos CTBC

Cuba ended their competitive preparations for the V World Classic with a 6-0 victory over Hermanos CTBC, Chinese Taipei Pro League champions, JIT reported.

The bout took place at the same Taichung Intercontinental stadium where the important contest would take place, and among its protagonists was Yoan Moncada, who tied the score 2-2 and hit a home run with two runs in the third act.

His hit in right field opened the scoring, extended by another line in chapter six based on the inaccessible bases of Lorenzo Quintana and Luis Mateo, and a connection through Yadir Drake’s infield that set the former of them in motion.

The other three finished in ninth place, two of them driven by the unstoppable Alfredo Despain, which was a death blow to an opposing team that used six pitchers.

Armando Johnson used about the same amount to keep the rotation conceived for the universal competition: Roenis Elias, Miguel Romero, Jose Ramon Rodriguez, Yeudis Reyes, Naikel Cruz and Frank Abel Alvarez.

This combined challenge limited home hits to eight, struck out seven and missed four tickets, demonstrating the stability of the area under the orders of Pedro Luis Lazo and José Elosegui.

Cuba will play their final training session on Tuesday before facing the Netherlands a day later on the World Classic Group A homepage.
