This week it was ratified by the Organizing Committee of the 24th convocation. Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador 2023 that the event will be held in a timely manner, according to Yamil Bukele, El Salvador’s top sports authority.
Bukele noted at a press conference held at the National Sports Palace that the regional event will open its doors as scheduled from June 23 to July 8, 2023, thus silencing the vicious comments that are circulating and questioning the fact that sports facilities are ready by the appointed date.
Currently, those responsible for the fair are reconstructing facilities and building nine stages, which will be used for 23 sports. Meanwhile, other specialties will take over natural spaces such as lakes and roads, thus completing the 42 sports disciplines that will take place in El Salvador as the rest see action in the capital of the Dominican Republic, the host of the tournament.
According to what was explained on the fight’s official website, Yamil Bukele claimed that there was only one scenario with problems – the National Palace of Sports itself; however, the Organizing Committee already has a plan B in place to ensure that the sports scheduled to compete at that venue, such as volleyball and karate, can be played even if the venues are not on time, which does not jeopardize the implementation of the games as they provided new locations.
On the other hand, work is underway to prepare a villa that will host athletes at the University of El Salvador, and this work is intended to be a great legacy for the center of higher education.
13 new buildings and 12 reconstructed buildings, which will accommodate almost four thousand athletes.
The San Salvador 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games will host 465 events with 1,499 medals divided into 465 gold, the same number of silver medals and 569 bronze.
