Cuban Karate Increases Pan-American Quotas

Cuban karate has added a new quota to the continental multi-sport event Santiago de Chile 2023 in recent days, in celebration of the discipline’s Pan-American Championships, which has been held in San Jose, Costa Rica since May 21st.

The fight, for which tickets are delivered to the Chilean city, takes place at the BN Arena of the Hainer Ugalde Sports City in Jatillo and will end next Sunday.

In Cuba, the athlete Lianerkis Chacon has already received her ticket in the 61 kilogram category, and at 60 years old, Brian Diaz was classified.

These two new registrations are added to those of Bauleris Torres (55) at a similar event in Morelos, Mexico, where the 2019 Pan American Games bronze medalist in Lima competed against representatives from Guatemala, Panama, Honduras, Costa. Rica, Nicaragua, Belize, Colombia, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and host country.

The Cuban team led by the president of the National Karate Federation Carmen Aispurua, as well as the coach of the women’s team Yulisma Kindelan and the coach of the men’s team Landi Manuel Ruiz, are now waiting for the results on the mat. The Pan American Karate Championship is sponsored by the Costa Rican Karate Federation and the Pan American Karate Federation, a tournament that will be the last opportunity for athletes to qualify for the Pan American Games in Santiago in 2023.

The 36th Continental Fair had two previous legs, one in April in Las Vegas, USA, and a second in Mexico. This new competition will complement the list of athletes who will compete in 12 categories that will be held in the Chilean capital.
