Diaz-Canel: “We are honored to set foot on Mexican soil again to meet friends and share with each other”

Dear brother and friend Andres Manuel López Obrador, President of the United Mexican States.

The authorities of the Mexican government who accompany us and gave us this welcome, as well as the authorities of the government of the state of Campeche, that this place is so similar to many places in Cuba and, in particular, to the city where I was born:

We are very happy and proud to be back on Mexican soil to meet friends and share, even if just for a few hours, with this sweet part of the Hispanic family.

We come to personally return the hugs we received during difficult and uncertain times, as well as material assistance and technical advice in vital areas and activities from the government and the Mexican people.

It is always a great honor to get to the homeland of Benito Juarez, about whom Marty wrote such sincere and deep assessments that there is not a single Cuban who would not recognize him as one of the great people of our America, a symbol of the dignity of the original. nations and the struggle against the aggression of European colonialism and the expansionist ambitions of a powerful neighbor.

Beautiful and beloved Mexico, as they sing here and in Cuba, this is Juarez, and this is the story that we will always be indebted to them for giving home, inspiration, strength and life to those who fought for our freedom until we conquered it is, from Jose Marti even to Fidel Castro, Raul, Che and the Century Generation.

And Mexico is also supportive, honest and fair, which is constantly expressed in the gestures and words of its government.

For this reason, and because our people demand it, I send you a message with deep respect and love for the brotherly Mexican people and their President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador. Mexico and you, President, are very much loved in Cuba.

Once again, I thank the brotherly people for their solidarity with the Cuban people, who have faced extremely difficult problems in recent years and months due to a combination of natural disasters and the consequences of the tightening of the blockade.

During our visit, we will review together what we have progressed to date and analyze new targets in areas of common interest.

The hallmark of this phase of bilateral relations between Mexico and Cuba is that we have been able to carry out mutually beneficial programs and activities that go beyond traditional ties.

In May 2022, during the visit of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to Cuba, we agreed that both countries could send specialists to provide public health services in medical institutions or institutions in our countries. In less than a year, we are doing what was agreed, and there are already results that can be shown. We are very proud to have a group of Cuban doctors here in Campeche that we will be visiting.

The export of pitted stones from the southern province of Cienfuegos for use in the works of the Maya train passing through several states has also been identified as a new area of bilateral relations; among them Campeche.

These are useful projects for our peoples and examples of the potential that exists for the development of bilateral ties.

Recognizing the value of this cooperation, we have come to reaffirm the will of our people and government to continue to strengthen and deepen relations with Mexico, not as another protocol, but rather as an expression of brotherhood that unites us and encourages cooperation. keep moving towards the integration that will save us.

Thanks Mexico.

Thanks Campeche.

Thank you President.
