BOGOTA, 14 February. Thousands of Colombians from various social, political and trade union backgrounds, among others, marched on Tuesday in support of reforms by President Gustavo Petro’s government to bring about change in favor of the majority in Colombia.
The mobilization, which took to the streets in several cities in the South American country, aims to support the changes that the current government is pushing for and that aims for greater social justice for Colombians.
The main goal of these conferences called “Great Social Dialogue” convened by the head of state will be to increase support for reforms, including the health care reform, which was filed precisely on Monday, February 13, Telesur reports.
Another goal of this call is for citizens to take to the streets to communicate, learn about and support the reforms that will be carried out in 2023.
In Medellin, the main march started from Los Pies Descalzos Park towards Los Deseos Park; and another concentration center was the University of Antioquia, and several student marches were also planned with different concentration points and times.
In addition to Bogota, other cities joined these marches: Cali, Villavicencio, Sinselejo, Neiva, Popayan and Bucaramanga.
In Plaza Bolivar in the Colombian capital, everything was set for President Gustavo Petro to speak about his government’s reforms this afternoon.
