Message from young Cubans to the Syrian people

“May the devastating effects of this natural disaster that has brought so much death and destruction not be ignored, may the suffering of the Syrian people not be mitigated by the imposition of economic sanctions, may Syria be able to recover and its right to freedom be respected life and development.

It was a call on Tuesday from the First Secretary of the National Committee of the Union of Young Communists (UJC), Aileen Alvarez Garcia, during a solidarity action for the Syrian Arab Republic held at the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM). where dozens of young people from the brotherly country have been trained and are studying.

With the same sense of humanism that is the result of the legacy of our historical leader Fidel Castro Ruz, he stressed that “young Cubans and Syrians have a common enemy and much in common in history. We are aware of the suffering caused by the United States government’s imposition of unilateral coercive measures that grossly and systematically violate our human rights.”

For his part, first-year Syrian medical student Okba Almhitawe spoke on behalf of all his classmates and thanked them for their support. “We feel like we are here with our family.

“Cuba is not just a country where we come for a scholarship, but for a whole experience. We are constantly learning from the Cubans to move forward and live,” Almhitave added.

The event was also attended by the Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to the Greater Antilles, Ghassan Obeid, who acknowledged the assistance provided by our people after the earthquake, which even today testifies to significant human losses in his country and in Turkey.
