Dozens of people have died due to heavy rains in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

BRAZIL, 22 February. Authorities have confirmed the death toll from the rains in Sao Paulo, Brazil, at 46. Of the total deaths, more than 40 were registered in the municipalities of San Sebastian and Ubatuba.

The government of São Paulo reported that the unfavorable situation is related to the heavy rains that were recorded in the state. In a balance sheet shared through his Twitter account, the government claims that search and rescue efforts in the region continue to evolve unabated, with an estimated 40 more people missing.

In turn, the São Paulo Department of Health clarified that 20 adults and six minors have been treated at the North Coast Regional Hospital so far. Of these, seven are in serious condition, 13 are in stable condition. Two more patients have already been discharged from the hospital, the Ministry of Health noted, Telesur points out.

For its part, the São Paulo Roads Department explained that they continue to work on clearing roads where landslides have been reported as a result of heavy rains.

The Civil Defense also warned of heavy rainfall in the coming days. The report details that continuous downpours are predicted in the state of São Paulo, mainly in Baixada Santista, Littoral Norte and Vale do Paraiba.
