TEHRAN, 5 March. Iran has announced that it will allow the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to expand research at facilities where it enriches uranium up to 60 percent, PL reported.
Behruz Kamalvandi, IAEA representative in the Islamic Republic, told the official news agency IRNA that, according to this, the UN agency’s investigations into Iranian nuclear facilities will increase by 50 percent.
He specified that the number of inspections at the Fordow plant, where Iran enriches uranium up to 60 percent, has increased from eight to eleven.
In principle, any increase in the level of enrichment or the introduction of more sensitive materials into nuclear facilities leads to an increase in the number of checks, as agreed by the two parties, he explained.
Kamalvandi’s remarks follow a two-day visit to Tehran by IAEA chief Rafael Grossi, who acknowledged that Iran is facilitating investigations into alleged uranium enrichment close to that needed to build a nuclear weapon.
There is a working atmosphere of honesty and cooperation, Grossi said at a press conference after meeting with authorities involved in the Persian state’s nuclear program.
