Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro held a meeting with the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Raul Castro, according to his Twitter account today.
I had a “brotherly meeting” with a general of the Army of the Caribbean in the company of Rafael Correa, “leaders who have always offered us their friendship and support.” This is how Maduro described his interview with both statesmen, to whom he expressed “his joy at seeing them and together confirming the validity of the dreams of alliance that Commander Chávez fought for.”
Maduro received Plurinational State of Bolivia President Luis Arce; Commander Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua; and Prime Ministers Ralph Gonsalves of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Roosevelt Skerrit of Dominica.
He also spoke with Honduran leader Manuel Zelaya following the Global Meeting for the Relevance of Commander Chávez’s Bolivarian Thought in the 21st Century, which was attended by over a hundred intellectuals and cultivators from 60 countries from all over the world.
At the closing of the event, the general of the Cuban army confirmed that the tribute of the largest of the Antilles and his people Hugo Chávez will always accompany and follow him.
Raul emphasized that Chávez and his fellow wrestlers shook our continent and influenced the modern history of our America. He also stated that the concept of “yes, we can”, despite the huge problems, Chavez puts into practice every day.
