About 100 houses were damaged or completely destroyed, as well as other objects, as a result of the 6.5 magnitude earthquake that rocked this South American country the day before.
With its epicenter in the Balao municipality of the southern coastal province of Guayas, the quake was felt across nearly half of the country, followed by at least seven aftershocks ranging in magnitude from 2.6 to 4.6, the Ecuadorian Geophysical Institute said.
