According to the UN, today is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. It should be every day. The debt of the world to the victims of racism is too great. Another world #MejorEsPosible,” the president wrote on his Twitter account.
This day is observed on March 21 every year to commemorate the fact that in 1960 the police opened fire and killed 69 people during a peaceful demonstration against the apartheid law, which was practiced in Sharpeville, South Africa.
By proclaiming the Day in 1966, the United Nations General Assembly called on the international community to redouble its efforts to eliminate all forms of discrimination based on skin color.
