Syria rejects shelling of Al-Aqsa mosque

The Government of Syria reiterated its strong condemnation of the Israeli raids on the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, as well as the silence of the international community in the face of Israeli crimes.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry expressed its opposition to the repeated attacks by Israeli settlers on a religious building and Palestinians practicing rituals in a Syrian Foreign Ministry statement, Telesur writes.

In addition, he confirmed that attacks by Israelis attempting to practice the rituals of the so-called Jewish Passover are carried out with the full protection of the State of Israel.

Damascus recalled that the attacks represent a violation of the historical status of this sacred place. He added that the Syrian state cites international silence as complicit in Israeli violations supported by the police and occupying forces.

The Foreign Ministry called on the international community to assume moral obligations and put pressure on the occupiers to stop these aggressive actions against the Palestinians.

The statements reflect that Syria, despite the war on terror, the economic blockade of the West and the constant Israeli aggression, does not withdraw its support for the Palestinian cause.

The occupying government has decided to close the Al-Aqsa Mosque to settlers and tourists until the end of the month of Ramadan.
