This visit is part of the frequent exchanges maintained between the Russian Federation and Cuba, and is a reflection of the maturity and historical nature of our relations, as well as the high priority that Cuba attaches to its relations with Russia, which both sides qualify as strategic, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs Affairs of Cuba Bruno Rodriguez Parilla at the beginning of the meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
The meeting will take place this Thursday morning in the protocol room of El Laguito, where, welcoming Lavrov, the Cuban Foreign Minister said that the visit is a sign of the deep solidarity and brotherhood that both countries support, as well as the broad political dialogue that exists between presidents, governments, parliaments and ministries of foreign affairs.
He added that we have a mechanism for political consultations where issues of common interest are considered, we have broad convergence on issues on the international agenda, and we maintain close contacts in international forums.

Lavrov arrived in Havana on Wednesday evening from Nicaragua as part of the last leg of his tour of Latin America and the Caribbean, during which he also visited Brazil and Venezuela.
Rodriguez Parilla said that he will soon receive new high-level delegations from Russia and, in turn, Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero will visit Moscow in June to strengthen relations and in the context of the meeting of the Eurasian Economic Union.
The Cuban Foreign Minister added that during this visit of his Russian counterpart, the agreements that are part of the plan for the Cuban economy until 2030 will be analyzed. In this regard, he thanked Russia for its cooperation during the pandemic and donations of food and other supplies.
It also meant that Russia supported the condemnation of the blockade and against the inclusion of Cuba in the fake US of countries allegedly supporting terrorism.
He also stressed that Cuba condemns the unilateral sanctions, through which it is called upon to isolate Russia, as well as the expansion of NATO to the borders of the Eurasian state. He said that Cuba is in favor of a diplomatic solution to the conflict with Ukraine.

Lavrov thanked for the intense and supportive attention from Cuba, congratulated Cuban friends on the re-election of President Miguel Diaz-Canel and stressed that this reflects the vote of confidence of the Cuban society in its leaders.
He also referred to the numerous attempts to undermine the positions of other states in the international arena and condemned the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba that had been in place for decades.
In this regard, he stated that the world cannot move forward according to the rules set by the United States, with the help of which he is trying to restore neo-colonialism and live at the expense of others.

Referring to the clear position expressed by President Diaz-Canel regarding the international situation, Lavrov explained Russia’s position in defense of its citizens.
