I have the honor to personally open the Fifth Theoretical Seminar between the Communist Party of Cuba and the Communist Party of China today in Beijing. On behalf of the delegation accompanying me, I express my deepest gratitude for the warm welcome of the Chinese brothers and for the excellent organization of this grandiose event.
Allow me to convey fraternal greetings from the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and the President of the Republic of Cuba, Comrade Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, and especially from the leader of the Cuban Revolution, General of the Army Raul Castro Ruz.
I take this opportunity to once again congratulate you on the successful holding of the 20th Congress of the Communist Party of China, an event of exceptional historical significance for the Communist Party and the Chinese people, the outcome of which gives new impetus to the development of all progressive forces in the national level of the world.
Cuba and China are united by the desire to build socialism with its own characteristics, as the only way to build a more just society that considers man as the center of his social and economic development. To this end, a fluid inter-party dialogue, as well as the study and constant exchange of experience in accordance with the characteristics of each country, are important pillars of the existing strong mutual trust.
As we affirmed in the Joint Declaration of the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Cuba on Deepening Bilateral Relations in a New Era, adopted during the official visit of our First Secretary to China last November, “Chinese-Cuban relations become an example of solidarity and cooperation among socialist countries; and sincere mutual support among developing countries.
The topics that we will touch upon at this seminar, through frank and open debate, will contribute to the deepening of mutual understanding and the strengthening of the socialist cause in both countries. The development of our economy, ideological and political work and the role of youth in the continuity of our socialist heritage today are the general priorities of work in the construction of socialism with their own characteristics.
We are confident that the Chinese Communist Party, under the leadership of thought and direction General Secretary Xi Jinping will continue to unite and lead to the Chinese people in the culmination of the all-round building of a modern socialist country, in defending sovereignty, independence, national unity, and in strengthening China as a key player in stability and balance throughout the world.
The progress made by China in its development under the leadership of its Communist Party and under the clear leadership of our comrade and dear friend Xi Jinping is and will continue to be an important guide in our work. As our Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz put it so well in his words, the Chinese Communists can work miracles. with the unwavering defense of socialist principles.
In the face of adversity and a growing blockade, our people continue to resist and defend their right to exist as a nation. sovereignindependent and socialist.
The renewal of the Cuban socialist model of development is faced with problems that require an adequate articulation of actions in the socio-economic, organizational, legal, ideological and political directions.
The development of our economy, its diversification and connection to the global economy is becoming more and more of a priority. In this area, Cuba needs the systematic support of China, a country in which the Communist Party has successfully developed. a process of reform and opening up that has brought obvious benefits to its people.
We understand that there are different opportunities that can still be used by both countries in the economic and commercial sphere; on the basis of the broad complementarity of our economies and the excellent political environment in which our ties develop.
The leading role of our parties is an essential component of bilateral relations, it should decisively contribute to the implementation of the consensus reached by our top leaders. Constant dialogue, mutual trust and cooperation in all areas, including agreement and support in regional and international forums, have been and must remain the cornerstone of our relations.
We appreciate China’s unconditional and unwavering vote for the Cuban resolution against the blockade, and reaffirm our consistent position of supporting the one China principle and rejecting any attempt to interfere in its internal affairs.
The responsibility to make the world safer, more inclusive, prosperous and sustainable requires our contribution. Only by uniting in defense of ensuring the irreversibility of socialism, with independence and sovereignty, and no one can interfere with our goals, we will achieve this goal.
