“Congratulations to the brotherly Syrian people and their government on achieving full regional reintegration,” the Foreign Minister wrote on his Twitter account.

On the eve of the Council of the League of Arab States, held at the level of foreign ministers in the Egyptian capital, unanimously decided to return Syria to take its place in this organization.

The resolution adopted by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs bears the number 8914 and confirms that from May 7, 2023, the participation of Syrian delegations in the meetings of the Council and its bodies will resume.

In a statement issued following the meeting, the ministers reaffirmed their commitment to preserve the sovereignty, territorial integrity and stability of this country, and to intensify joint efforts to help it emerge from the crisis.

The membership of Syria, the founding member of the League, was frozen in 2011, a few months after the start of the war.
