According to the Presidency’s website, the tribute highlights that on May 10, 1973, the organization emerged as the National Liberation Movement to fight Spanish colonialism and then the illegal occupation of Morocco.

The Frente POLISARIO, said Jatri Adduh, also Minister of Education, does not forget the sympathy, solidarity, support, constant assistance and the clear, firm and decisive position of Cuba towards our cause. This, he said, is the quality of our relations.

“This free land has accompanied us for decades, despite the enormous hardships you have gone through,” said the Saharan leader, who denounced the United States government’s economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba. But, he added, “neither attacks nor blockades can stop the glorious progress of the Revolution of the Cuban people.”

Yudi Rodriguez Hernandez, member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party, stressed in his concluding remarks to the act that Cuba would continue to defend the Saharawi cause until it achieved its independence.

He pointed out that the relationship between the PAC and the Frente POLISARIO “is characterized by mutual political trust, a common vision of resistance and a strong conviction in the struggle for the right of our peoples to live in peace, to fully enjoy freedom. Respect, admiration, friendship and cooperation are the benchmark of our bilateral relations,” he said.

He recalled that in Cuba, more than 2,000 young people from Western Sahara were trained in various teachings, of which 375 became doctors of science and 555 received other university degrees. He recalled that 935 children from this country were invited to the island of Youth to study from the first grades of primary school to secondary school.

“The younger generations of the Sahara will continue to have this opportunity, which, without a doubt, makes the relationship between the two peoples worthy,” said Rodriguez Hernandez, who also mentioned the work of more than a hundred Cuban specialists in the desert sands.

“The leadership and resistance of the Saharan brothers during these 50 years,” he said, “are admired by peoples who recognize the enormous sacrifices they have made in their firm determination to maintain their noble and legitimate aspirations to achieve full sovereignty. and self-determination,” he said.
