Hernandez conveyed to the host country Cuba’s “great and eternal gratitude” to Vietnam for its constant solidarity and support, and affirmed that “there are many friendly peoples, but when we Cubans talk about brotherly peoples, we mean the Vietnamese.”
In response to a question from Van Chien, the CDR national coordinator explained the historical context in which the organization came into being on September 28, 1960, at a time when Cuba was under all kinds of aggression, as well as the details of its structure and functioning. .
The President of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front, for his part, said that he understood all the difficulties that the people of Cuba have faced for over 60 years, because after the end of the war they also suffered from the blockade of the United States.
He gratefully recalled the many gestures of support and solidarity made by Cuba to his country and expressed his confidence that, with her usual will and firmness, the Antillean nation would be able to overcome the intensifying American siege.
Van Chien also mentioned the reform process started by Vietnam more than three decades ago, which he said has left valuable lessons, and noted that Hernandez and his comrades will be able to appreciate the achievements of the Indochinese country in their journey through the country. different provinces.
At the end of a lively meeting, the two leaders signed a cooperation agreement between the CDR and the Fatherland Front for the period 2023-2028, aimed at strengthening the close ties between the two grassroots organizations.
Hernandez arrived in this capital today at the head of a CDR delegation and was received at Noi Bai International Airport by the Deputy Chairman of the Central Committee of the Fatherland Front, Truong Thi Ngoc Anh.
In addition to carrying out a rich program in this capital, the CDR delegation will visit the provinces of Nghe An, Quang Binh and Quang Tri, from where it will travel to Laos through the Lao Bao international border post.
