China and Russia strengthen strategic ties with new agreements

BEIJING, 24 May. China and Russia have taken another step in strengthening bilateral relations by signing new agreements aimed at expanding cooperation in various fields, signing agreements to increase investment in commercial services, export agricultural products and expand cooperation in the field of sports. .

The texts were signed following talks between Chinese Premier Li Qiang and his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishustin, who was visiting China, and both stressed their importance in making bilateral relations more resilient in the face of Western pressure. Prensa Latina reports.

Li highly praised the results of economic and trade cooperation between China and Russia, reiterating his country’s willingness to join forces to unleash the full potential of business and thereby guarantee more benefits for both peoples.

Mishustin, in turn, stressed that Beijing-Moscow relations are at the highest level, and his country is the main supplier of fuel for the Asian giant.

Similarly, he mentioned the importance of contacts between people and their influence on mutual understanding.

“The peoples of Russia and China are united by history, rich culture and traditions. We support the further development of our culture, exchanges and communication,” he said.

Mishustin held formal talks with Li on the second and final day of his visit to China.

Also this Wednesday, he was received by President Xi Jinping.

Local authorities hope that Mishustin’s stay here will further strengthen trade, economic, political and interpersonal exchanges.

The Russian prime minister began his visit on Tuesday with a business forum in Shanghai, where he predicted exponential growth in trade with China until 2023.

He stressed that this will come with important transformations and, in particular, less dependence on the US dollar.

He expressed confidence that both countries will increase the volume of trade to $200 billion, expand settlements in national currencies and thus put aside both the dollar and other Western currencies.
