San Marino, Cuba’s political will “to turn this visit into the future of expanding and deepening political relations, diplomatic relations.”

This official visit, the first visit of the Chancellor of San Marino to the Greater Antilles, was also considered by the head of state as an opportunity to take steps in trade and economic relations in areas such as tourism.

In this sense, a senior official commented “the appointment of teams from both sides to explore in what areas, in what niches we can have cooperation, for example, in the field of health and others. We are open to working with you on any issue, and this leads us to deepen and strengthen our relationship.”

His visit, Diaz-Canel said, marks “a moment in the historical relationship between our peoples; We are countries that share views, especially in terms of values, two small countries that fought for their independence and sovereignty.”

He appreciated that the Republic of San Marino “has always been considered a stronghold, a model of independence, and this also has a lot to do with how we in Cuba embrace these values and this struggle.”

The President of Cuba especially thanked San Marino for supporting Cuba in the fight against the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government, as well as for “this gesture of visiting us in such a difficult time as we live alone.” You and your delegation, he assured, are expected in Cuba.

Thanking the “warm welcome” given to the island, San Marino’s Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs admitted that “these are very difficult times,” times when his country is “trying to overcome challenges that have arisen in unforeseen ways.” ”,

As we could imagine, he reflected, that after three years of a pandemic, we will face a war that “was and remains a very difficult test in Europe.”

In this sense, he shared his criteria for the role of states in the international context, which, according to him, should first of all “promote dialogue and, above all, the diplomatic solution of disputes.”

Sanctions, in his opinion, cannot be used as a tool to resolve disputes between countries.

Considering the features that distinguish our countries, he said, Cuba and San Marino “defend the same principles” and “we are two states that must move forward, given our strengths, and we must know, as always get out of the best of our cities”.
