Cuban medical workers in Haiti survive earthquake well

Cuban medical workers in Haiti are doing well, Politburo member and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla confirmed via Twitter, adding that after the magnitude 5.7 earthquake, the Cuban medical team in the Haitian department of Grand’Anse is treating the injured.

The Foreign Minister also lamented the “earthquake loss of life and damage” reported in that country early on Tuesday morning and was sensitive to the effects of heavy rains over the weekend.

“Our solidarity and condolences to the people and government of Haiti, as well as to the relatives and close friends of the victims,” wrote Rodríguez Parilla.

Telesur clarifies that at the moment, at least three people are reported dead and several injured.

The US Geological Survey said that early in the morning of this day in the city of Jeremy, a telluric movement was reported, while specifying that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The Haitian civil protection service said the earthquake shook the departments of Grand Anse and Nippe, and its epicenter was 14 km northwest of the city of Jeremy.
