Makeup artist Magali Pompa has been honored with the 2023 National Film Award from ICAIC. The laureate was born in Granma in 1945 and in 1962 she joined the make-up group ICAIC and with a film by Armando Gatti. Another Cristobal (1964) began his work as an assistant in this specialty.
According to Prensa Latina, since then he has continuously participated in more than 40 national and international productions directed by famous Cuban directors such as Manuel Octavio Gómez, Tomás Gutiérrez Alea, Humberto Solas, Enrique Pineda Barnet and Fernando Pérez.
Films in which he was responsible for makeup include Lucy, water days, Cecilia, true love, Benny, José Marti: the eye of the canary, dark loveamong others.
Pompa is the recipient of the Raúl Gómez Garcia Medal and National Culture Distinction, and in 2017 received ICAIC Special Recognition for Lifetime Work.
