Cuba created for itself a smaller and larger parliament. There are fewer deputies, but more tasks. A Cuba that renews itself, reinvents itself and confirms its destiny in the face of difficult scenarios, knows that the best parliament is the one that meets the people.
Before the national elections on March 26, the then candidates, and today all the deputies, toured and, even better, discussed with their constituents an exercise that, according to President Diaz-Canel, should be a compass for socialist democracy. become strong where he was born.
We will have a parliament built according to the standards of today’s Cuba, if those who compose it consider themselves only the voice of the millions who daily act in the parliament of everyday life and build a country to which we all owe ourselves.
A legislature of intense debate and determination is coming for the sake of the order, development and prosperity of Cuba. The meetings of the National Assembly of People’s Power should be fruitful, rich in deep analysis and not be afraid of polemics with arguments.
470 deputies, representatives of a society that is not as homogeneous as some believe (or are trying to make us believe), must multiply the hours of each day in order to fulfill a constitutional mandate, and to do so in the midst of this time.
Our parliament will be more sincere if its members carry a chair on their backs. It’s not about going to the big hall to speak and vote. It’s time to put this imaginary place in the center of the communities to build together what will later be approved there.
It will be necessary to go again and again, always, to where there are people, to the crossroads of all roads, from bottom to top and from top to bottom, in order to make the course of socialist Cuba more authentic and safe.
The fabric should be from all possible social networks, physical and digital. Where they all fit and are as open as they are in the plural; where they speak, but also listen; and little by little, without neglecting a single word, prayers are formed, which will then be said at the meetings of Parliament.
The future, like the present, is complex. It can be defeated only by uniting, empowering those who build. And the deputies, a kind of missionaries, multiplying the voices of the people on all roads, should be the main actors in this undertaking.
What is less for such a task? They will know how to grow, and we will along with them.
