It is not unusual for a citizen of any country, especially here, to write to the President of the United States, and he answers. I assume that it is most likely that the president does not even see the letter, and someone from his team writes the answer. It doesn’t matter who writes the reply, or even if they have prepared general answers, the fact is that the responder will never receive a reply letter.
The president of this country, like everyone else in any country in the world, is very busy. So it is possible that his advisers are leaking a more or less clear summary of opinions that citizens send him. In the United States, they say yes, that the President reads and answers, although I don’t think this is possible or certain, given that the volume of letters must be in the thousands.
It doesn’t matter much to me what the president does or doesn’t do with his time, that’s up to him, but I’m interested in writing to him from time to time about issues that are important to me, and as a human being, I’ve always wanted the United The States and Cuba had good relations in every respect, because from time to time I take up the computer and send a letter to the president on duty.
I do not remember that my subjects in these letters were very different, they were always more or less the same, that is, Cuba, my homeland. I have written one letter to Clinton, one to Obama, and two to Biden for almost 30 years, and the responses have been more or less the same. General replies, that’s all I got. Presidential advisers should have, or at least resort to, literary sources and answer with a certain originality, and not with the hybrid answers with which they do it.
I wrote a letter to Joe Biden on September 10, 2021 and came back for a reply on July 18, 2022. Here are some excerpts from my letter:
“I can tell you that I love this country, but even more I love Cuba, which is my homeland, where I was born and raised … I always wanted this country where I live and with which I love to have normal relations the country I adore and from which I came… My whole family and I voted for you because you promised to return to the policies of the Obama-Biden administration and eliminate the cruel and unfair measures taken by your predecessor… You have been in the White House for eight months now, and with regard to Cuba, it seems that the disastrous Donald Trump continues to be president … How do you allow this inhuman and unjust treatment of Cuba to continue?
Ten months later, in a reply I received from the White House, he thanked me for writing to him and told me that “respect for human rights is the foundation of my administration with respect to Cuba and I hold the Cuban government solely responsible. ..I unreservedly condemn the mass arrests and sordid trials of those brave Cubans who continue to oppose and condemn, and I will continue to support them…The Cuban people have the same right to express themselves freely, and the United States stands by these brave Cubans. .. The United States will continue to offer Covid-19 vaccines to the Cuban people for as long as international organizations provide them.”
Why continue? The letter is much longer, and these are just excerpts from it. This is a letter full of lies and cheap propaganda. If the Cuban government hadn’t rushed and Cuban scientists hadn’t burned their eyelashes trying to create a vaccine against the deadly virus, half of Cuba’s population would have died. He never replied to what I wrote to him, this only justified the continuation of this cruel policy towards Cuba.
Why would the president of the United States lie to the face and directly to a citizen of this country who pays taxes and has never committed a crime? Mr. Biden knows that what he wrote to me is pure propaganda and pure lies. Why does he do it? Who do you want to praise? I’m tired of all this cheap and offensive propaganda against Cuba. But nothing, Cuba will go forward …
