Today, Cuba is testing a telemedicine service for people with special needs and disabilities, which will allow them to improve their safety conditions and communication in everyday life.

This is a project aimed at managing personalized care for the elderly, people with disabilities, and caregivers in a possible situation of psychosocial or physical risk, who live alone all the time or most of the day.
Belkis Delgado, director of social prevention at the MTSS, explained that this service also promotes independence and facilitates the integration of people into their natural environment, as well as detects, prevents and, in some cases, intervenes before dangerous situations, Granma newspaper reported.
Among the benefits it offers are attention, advice, guidance and information through a helpline with dedicated staff through interpersonal and two-way communication 24 hours a day, as well as personal customer service when needed.
The beneficiaries will be informed by telephone about specific activities at certain times, sporadically or at fixed intervals, always in coordination with the various organizations, institutions and social actors of the public system.
