In five days, the archaeological site of Teotihuacan, Mexico, will be the scene of a historic event of great significance, not only cultural but also sporting, as the Central American and Caribbean fire moves to San Salvador, the headquarters of the 24th. the oldest regional multi-sport event in the world.
Sponsored by the region’s premier sports organization, Centro Caribe Sports and the Mexican Olympic Committee, this event will be the start of the torch that will ignite the Central Caribbean cauldron on June 23rd.
All of this will be part of the New Fire Ceremony, a ritual we have inherited from local cultures that centuries ago performed it in different parts of the continent approximately every 52 years to celebrate the closing of the Mesoamerican calendar and, at the same time, the beginning of a new one.
