Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdez Mesa held an exchange of views with local authorities and foreign delegations in Azerbaijan this Wednesday as part of his visit to the Asian country, the main event of which will be the Contact Group of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in response to COVID-19, ACN reports. .

Through Twitter, a representative of the Cuban government said that at a meeting with the chairman of the Azerbaijani Legislative Assembly, Sahiba Gafarova, both sides agreed to continue developing bilateral ties in all areas, especially inter-parliamentary ones.

Valdes Mesa, at the head of the Cuban delegation, also met with the President of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zelka Cvijanovic, whom he invited to visit the largest of the Antilles.

According to the Cuban vice-president, both missions were in favor of strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Valdes Mesa, accompanied by Deputy Foreign Minister Anayansi Rodriguez Kamejo, also met with Ugandan Foreign Minister Abu Odongo and described the meeting on Twitter as friendly and productive.

The day before, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received the Cuban mission for an exchange of views, during which the desire of the two countries to further deepen working relations and expand cooperation in areas such as healthcare was confirmed.

On this day, the Minister of Health of Cuba, Jose Angel Portal Miranda, who is also a member of the delegation in Azerbaijan, discussed with his local colleague Teymur Musaev new prospects for developing and strengthening cooperation in the field of the pharmaceutical industry, as well as the exchange of experience between national institutions in the industry.
