The magazine Bohemia received on Tuesday in this capital the Prize of Dignity, awarded by the Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC) to true examples of society.
The recognition of the publication, which is celebrating its 115th anniversary this Wednesday, May 10, highlights her work, which has endured various contexts and historical circumstances that have made it one of the most enduring and visible sources of our journalism, according to the Cuban News Agency. .
In presenting the award, Ricardo Ronquillo, President of UPEC, pointed out the need for Bohemia to remain a professional and political mainstay in the state media system, despite all that it has meant throughout the history of national journalism, and for its contribution to the Revolution.
Isidro Fardales González, acting director of the magazine, said that the publication is an integral part of the cultural, political and social life of Cuba, since its content has always covered all areas of national events.
As a task, we must advance in the digital transformation, promote the website and multimedia works of so many impact today, he said.
During his speech, Ariel Terrero, Vice President of UPEC, emphasized the leadership of the magazine and the importance of its content as a Cuban cultural heritage.
Bohemia, founded on May 10, 1908, was the only publication of its time that opposed the tyranny of Gerardo Machado and Fulgencio Batista, even during the reign of terror established after the fall of the government of Grau Guiteras.
