BRAZIL, 1 May. — The Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro is hosting the Web Summit today, the largest technology event in the world, which will include more than 100 hours of conferences, specialized classes and networking sessions, according to PL.
Organizers say the event, which runs until Thursday, is designed to bring together new tech companies and potential investors from around the planet.
The meeting offers a space for interaction between market professionals, entrepreneurs, influencers, investors and the general public.
This year’s event is expected to be attended by 20,000 people, including executives from 750 innovative companies and representatives from 500 funds and investment groups.
Topics for discussion include the future of work, data science, artificial intelligence, e-commerce, climate change, the media revolution and technology at the service of education.
Scheduled for 4:00 pm local time, the Riocentro Convention Center’s main stage will feature a table opening featuring Ayo Tometi, co-founder of Black Lives Matter, David Velez, CEO of Nubank, and broadcaster Luciano Jaca. balloon.
The first web summit was held in 2009 in Dublin, Ireland, and was attended by about 400 people.
After seven meetings in Ireland, in 2016 Web Summit moved to Lisbon, Portugal.
In 2019, the number of meetings increased dramatically. That year’s event drew over 70,000 people from 150 countries and made the event one of the world’s largest networking and content sharing events.
Due to the Covid pandemic, the in-person event has been suspended. The 2020 edition happened remotely. There were more than 100 thousand participants on the online platform.
The following year, the conference again had an in-person option, but did not rule out digital interference.
