Elon Musk has changed the Twitter logo, now it will be X

Social networking site Twitter launched its new logo on Monday, replacing the blue bird with a white X on a black background as part of a larger makeover.

The social media website displayed the company’s new logo, but its URL was still displayed as twitter.com and the blue “Tweet” button was visible, according to DW.

Some users have seen a blue version of the X logo, indicating that the release is not yet complete.

Announcing the change over the weekend, Twitter owner Elon Musk and its new CEO Linda Iaccarino said the social network would now focus on online commerce, banking and payments.

“Soon we will say goodbye to the Twitter brand, and little by little to all the hares,” the mogul said, anticipating the change.

Musk changed his profile picture to a new company logo, which he called “minimalist art deco.”

Twitter, founded in 2006, has been using the bird sign since its inception, when the company purchased a light blue bird design for $15, according to design website Creative Bloq.

Iaccarino, an advertising sales manager at NBCUniversal whom Musk hired last month to become chief executive of Twitter, said the social network is set to multiply its reach.

“Thanks to AI (artificial intelligence), X will connect us in ways we’ve only just begun to dream of,” Iaccarino said on Twitter on Sunday.

Since the billionaire bought the app for $44 billion in October, the advertising business has partly collapsed as advertisers have railed against massive layoffs that have stripped Musk of content moderation and management style.

In response, the mogul implemented payment services on the platform to generate new revenue.
