Chess player Lysandra Ordaz won this Friday the first gold and, by the way, the first medal for Cuba at the V Games in Alba, winning the blitz discipline, a tournament in which she and her compatriots: Oleini Linares, Janiela Forgas and Erisbel Miranda competed with the men’s sector.
Ordaz added 7.5 units, thus overtaking the Venezuelans Samid Escalona and Ronald Brizuela, both with 6.5 and finishing second and third respectively.
For their part, Linares, the reigning Cuban champion, Forgas and Miranda finished tenth through twelfth in the same order.
In the women’s exclusive blitz, the locals won three medals: Annid Otaso (7.5) was the winner, Vikmari Pérez (6.5) as a shooting guard, and Jexilani Guadalajara (6.5) finished the podium.
On the first day, Venezuela added two titles, three silvers and the same number of bronzes. Among the highlights of the rendezvous for the home team was a podium finish by their road cyclists in the men’s individual time trial. Edwin Torres, Anderson Paredes and Josnehybert Rondon finished first in that order in this test held in Camuri Chico, La Guaira.
Ricardo Delgado and José Dominguez, two Cubans in the time trial, finished fourth and fifth in that order.
This Saturday there will be competitions in chess, judo, BMX cycling, bodybuilding, taekwondo, swimming, fencing, volleyball (indoor), football (indoor), kenpo, speed skating and boxing.
