Vuong Dinh Hue, member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Fraternal Asian Nation and Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, presented this high award to his Cuban counterpart at a solemn ceremony held in the Juarez Hall of the National Assembly. In his speech, he recalled that José Martí was the first Cuban who spoke about the greatness of this noble Indochinese people, specifically addressing children as part of his teaching in Golden age.

He recognized an important historical coincidence for both peoples: on May 19, 1890, the unforgettable Ho Chi Minh was born and that on the same day, five years later, our national hero fell in battle.

“A historical coincidence that could be a symbol of continuity between hard-line fighters and falsifiers of hope. Perhaps this was a harbinger of an alliance between our peoples. Many years later, this sweet brotherhood will be strengthened, ”the head of the Cuban parliament emphasized.

In turn, he praised the exemplary relationship between Vietnam and Cuba for more than six decades, forged under the legacy of Fidel Castro and Ho Chi Minh. In this regard, he mentioned some milestones in our common history over these 60 years.

Esteban Lazo emphasized that “by saying that Cuba and Vietnam will win together, we are talking about solidarity in its highest sense.” In this sense, he remarked that “in the face of the brutal attacks that we have faced and must face, in the face of the genocidal blockade pushed to perverted limits, we have received the generous support of the party, the government, the National Assembly and the people of Vietnam, loyal to the legacy of Ho Chi Minh »; at the same time, he called the beautiful history of brotherhood uniting two peoples.

“Once again, I am infinitely grateful for the honor of receiving this award on behalf of the Cuban people, which bears the image and name of Ho Chi Minh, a world leader,” he concluded in his acceptance speech.
